Studio Gear Spotlight: The Turtle Base C-Stand

Setting Up Your Film Studio

You don’t have to have the perfect gear to make an incredible video, but the right piece of equipment with the right functionality can make a world of difference for your workflow. Today we wanted to give a shoutout to one of our favorite “right” pieces of gear to have on hand, the Turtle Base C-Stand.

One of Our Favorite Pieces of Gear for Food Videos

Simple, maneuverable, and extremely versatile, C-Stands have become essential to the setup of our film studio. We’ve used them for everything from holding diffusers to placing flags to securing backdrops to positioning lights. For awhile, we even used one as our primary overhead camera stand, attaching our geared head to an extension arm poised over the filming table.

Essentially, C-Stands are incredible for holding anything you need to hold, wherever you need to hold it. A huge bonus is that they are also straightforward to use and easy to store. Rearranging the stand is efficient with quick methods for raising and lowering, locking, and securely mounting pins for attachments. Additionally, the locking legs and turtle base make it a breeze to maneuver around the legs of other stands and equipment.

Our Recommendations for C-Stands

If you are looking to invest in a few C-Stands to utilize in your own studio, we would highly recommend this Kupo 40” Riser Turtle Base C-Stand. This stand will come equipped with an extension arm and grip head that allows you to use the stand as-is, however you can also purchase accessories that meet the specific needs of your studio. We have found these Kupo Duck Bill Clamps and the Kupo Foamcore Fork to be helpful attachments to have on hand.

What about you? Do you use C-Stands in your studio?

P.S. We aren’t sponsored, we just love this product!
